Donegal Town made it 5 wins from 5 yesterday with victory over Limavady 2XV.
The action kicked off with a slow burn as both teams cautiously probed each other. But Donegal Town lit the fire with a spectacular play! Peteso Cannon’s lightning-quick hands found Kez McKeown, who shrugged off defenders to score a try just 15 minutes in. Peteso, although missing the extra points, stretched the lead with a penalty, making it 8-0.
Then, with 25 minutes on the clock, Donegal Town turned over possession deep in Limavady’s territory, and Carl McCarry crossed the line close to the posts, converting for a 15-0 lead.
But Limavady clawed their way back into the game, displaying their own strength with a solid try after a series of power plays, making it 15-7.
Donegal Town weren’t about to let Limavady steal their thunder. In a flash, Denis Mcmenamin’s clever thinking led to Kez McKeown scoring his second try in the corner. Although unconverted, the first half ended at a thrilling 20-7.
The second half turned into a scrappy battle, with discipline issues causing chaos on both sides. However, Donegal Town’s trademark maul made a statement, bulldozing over for an incredible try! It was the only scoring of the half, but it sealed the deal with a bonus point for the home team.
The Man of the Match honors went to the sensational Peteso Cannon, who orchestrated plays brilliantly from the #10 position.
