Aodh Rua B/S 1-07 v 0-09 Gweedore
With a five point lead midway through the second-half Aodh Rua looked in control of this final but as Gweedore fought back and picked off their points, things looked uncertain but time ran out for the chasers and Aodh Rua held on to win by a point.
Colm McGloin gave Aodh Rua an early lead with a good score from play and from 7th minute we had a run of two points apiece, David McGurrin and Damian Webber for Aodh Rua with Stephen McFadden and Fiachra Coyle replying for Gweedore, 0-03 to 0-02.
After a scoreless period Donagh McIntyre and Danny Curran exchanged points from play in the 17th minute. Another fine score from play by Stephen McFadden brought them level in the 23rd minute, 0-04 apiece, and that’s how it was at half-time.
Cathal Gillespie and David McGurrin exchanged points to get it to 0-05 apiece but then a big moment when the Ballyshannon men scored a goal, Damian Webber hammering the ball to the bottom corner of the net.
Webber and Gary Carty added points and suddenly Aodh Rua led by five, 1-07 to 0-05. That was their last score and it was pretty much all Gweedore after that. They added four points from Gavin Sweeney, Fiachra Coyle, Eoin de Burca and Cathal Gillespie but also shot several wides from good positions and Aodh Rua held on to take the Senior B Championship by 1-07 to 0-09 points.
