Convoy man to stand trial for attacking woman and pet dog

A Convoy man who allegedly attacked a woman and also a pet dog has been sent forward for trial.

Raymond Duffy, aged 42, appeared at Letterkenny District Court facing a number of charges.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had sent the case forward for trial by judge and jury at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court commencing on January 24th, 2024.

Duffy is charged that on April 10th, 2021 at Knockagarron, Convoy, made to Sharleen Duffy a threat intending the said Sharleen Duffy to believe it would be carried out , to kill or cause her serious harm.

He is also charged on the same date and address that he did assault one Sharleen Duffy, causing her harm on two occasions.

Duffy, of Knockagarron, Convoy, is also charged that on the same date and at the same location attack a dog named ‘Fluffy.’

He is charged that he did punch, kick and hit the Bichon Frisé causing it unnecessary suffering and endangering the health and welfare of the animal.

The alibi warning was given to Duffy, who was represented by solicitor Patsy Gallagher, by Judge Eiteain Cunningham.

The case was adjourned to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court in January next.
