Donegal duo selected for World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Turkey

Donegal swimmers Anna Hennessy and Eoin Rooney have qualified to represent Ireland at the 11th World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships.

Anna (24) from Letterkenny and Eoin (22) from Ballyshannon are part of a six-strong team competing at the major event in Antalya, Turkey from the 19th-26th March.

The games follow Anna and Eoin’s success at the European Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Italy in September.

Preparations are in full swing at Finn Valley Leisure Centre, where Anna and Eoin train under coach Sinead Donagher, Eoin’s mother, and strength and conditioning coach Sean Foley.

The duo is affiliated with Swilly Seals ASC, Letterkenny and Nemo Special Olympics Swim Club, FVLC.
