Donegal 2-6 v 4-5 Offaly
The Donegal Ladies’ U14 girls’ side gave it their all and came just short of winning the All-Ireland Silver final yesterday evening.
In a close contest, it was late goals from the Offaly side that made the difference as Donegal gave a great account of themselves.
At the half-time break Donegal were just 1 point behind after a low-scoring affair, the score at 1-3 to 1-2 – Donegal’s Ella Brennan striking her side’s first-half goal.
A frantic start to the second half would see Offaly strike their second goal of the game, but only minutes later Donegal would respond in kind as Kaya Gavigan struck the back of the Offaly net.
Donegal would then take the lead and hold it until the final minutes of the contest, before an Offaly penalty and another late goal would put pay to Donegal’s All-Ireland ambitions.
