Fanad United Reserves 1 v 5 Oldtown Celtic
Oldtown Celtic won the Area Final of the Voodoo Venue Cup defeating Fanad United 5-1 at Traigh-a-Loch. It was Fanad who took the lead as early as the 3rd minute when Eddie O’Reilly controlled the ball 20 yards out and his shot found the bottom corner. On 20 minutes Oldtown got the equaliser their play deserved when Giovanni Russell rose highest in the box to head home. In the 35th minute Fanad keeper Darran Nash produced and excellent double save to deny John Mc Fadden. Just before half time, Caolan Mc Elwaine was unlucky to see his header from a corner go just wide of the Oldtown post. Playing with the breeze, Oldtown attacked from the start of the second half and quickly established a 2-goal lead. First in the 48th minute, Kevin Mc Grath found space in the box and fired home. 3 minutes later Mc Grath turned provider when his cross found Ciaran Gibson who took a touch before slotting home. On the hour mark Oldtown extended their lead when Giovanni Russell headed home a Michael Doherty corner. Fanad did have a chance to get a goal back 5 minutes later, however Darragh Mc Elwaine was denied by a superb point blank save from Michael Gibson. With the final whistle about to blow, Oldtown got their 5th when Kevin McGrath scored with the aid of a slight deflection. Referee: Damien Mc Fadden

Strand Rovers 3 v 5 Gweedore Celtic Reserves
With a total of 8 goals on the day it was Cainan Mc Daid of Strand Rovers on the 7th minute to claim the first with a lovely header from a Lennon Cowley cross. 2 minutes later it was Cronan Mc Fadden that levelled the score as he slotted in the bottom corner just past Cormac’s fingers from a corner kick. The game continued for the rest of the 1st half at a fast pace, until Gweedore hit Strand on the counter when they defended well and broke down the right wing and the ball was swung in lovely for the onrushing Padraig Mac Giolla Bhride who finished it nicely into the corner. Strand started brightly at the start of the second half with the wind at their backs and pushed for the equaliser and finally found the break through when a free kick from Ethan Mc Caffery on the edge of the box was saved by the Gweedore keeper but only to fall to Cainan Mc Daid who followed up nicely and had an easy finish to make it 2-2 after 67 minutes. Strand then hit the front when a Cian Mc Gee corner hit the jackpot when it found Shane who rose the highest to head the ball powerfully to the back of the net. Strand tried to see the rest of the game out but were hit with a sucker punch when they were reduced to 10 men after a straight red card and Gweedore made the extra man count as they pushed to get the equaliser that would force it to extra time. They found that goal through the in-form Cronan Mc Fadden who got his second of the game and force the game in to extra time. Gweedore made use of the extra man and the wind in the first half of extra time making it 5-3 and held out to win by that score line. Referee: Mick Lagan
