Under 12
Group 2
Donegal Town 1 – 2 Cappry Rovers A
Donegal Town u12 girls kicked off their season tonight and were unfortunate to go down 2-1 to a very strong Cappry side. There were few chances in first half and the teams went in 0 – 0 at half-time. Cappry scored 10 minutes into 2nd half through Alison Mbuli but Town replied almost immediately with a great run and finish by the lively Nicole Byrne. With 5 minutes left Cappry got the winner with a cross from Alison Mbuli evading everyone and ending up in the net. The town girls were delighted after the game because they know they left it all on the pitch, well done girls.
Group 6
Cappry B – Finn Valley B
Well done to our Cappry U12 B team on their 1st league match of the season against Finn Valley girls. All 22 girls got game time and there was some great performances by both teams. Kilmac came from behind to record a 4-1 win in a friendly match at Orchard Grove. Ballyraine took the lead through Maria Welenska midway through the first half, and could have doubled their lead when the same player hit the bar soon after. Kilmac equalised with 15 minutes to go as both teams made changes to their lineups, and 3 late goals in the last 5 minutes gave them the victory.
Under 14
Group 1
Ballyraine 5 v 1 Donegal Town B
Ballyraine got their season off to a winning start with a victory over a young Donegal Town B team. The home side were ahead early on with goals from Grace McGlynn, Eadaoin Kennedy and Aoife Kenna. The second half was much tighter with goals from Eimear Sweeney and Eadaoin Kennedy for Ballyraine. Donegal Town B got a consolation from the spot when Sophie Gillespie neatly placed the ball past the Ballyraine keeper. Well done both sides.
Bonagee United 6 v 1 Raphoe Town
Bonagee United’s U14 girls kicked off their season with a good win against a battling Raphoe Town. Goals from Ellen Temple(hatrick), Tara McDaid, Ava Harkin & Ruby Sheridan for the home side secured their first win of the season. Strong performances from both Bonagee & Raphoe squads made it a very enjoyable opening night fixture.
Group 2
Cappry Rovers 3 v 6 Convoy Arsenal
A game that started out in great conditions and some great football was played by both teams. Cappry took the lead when Sinead McMenamin scored. Convoy soon drew level with a great finish after some fine team play. Sinead got second soon after and was a threat to the convoy defence all evening. Convoy though battled back and equalised 5 minutes later. Convoy took charge of the game after this and scored 3 more goals, all of which were of high quality. Cappry made it 5-3 when Grace McGowan scored after a mix up in the convoy goalmouth. Convoy made sure of the victory with their final goal of the game scored by Hattrick hero Genna Doherty.
Group 4
Kilmacrennan 0 v 0 Milford
0-0 Draw between Kilmacrennan and Milford tonight at Lurgy Park on front of a good crowd of supporters. It was a tough match with both defences on top. Orla Cunningham went closest to breaking the deadlock for Kilmacrennan in the second half but M Shields, Milford’s goalkeeper recovered the ball just off the line. Kilmacrennan had most possession and Cate Cameron took some excellent corners but no one was able to get on the end of them. A fair result in the end.
Under 16
Group 1
Ballyraine 1 Raphoe Town 1
Ballyraine and Raphoe played out a competitive and entertaining 1 1 draw on the opening night of the under 16 league in this a first game for Ballyraine at this level. Ballyraine were quickest out of the blocks and put the visitors under a sustained amount of pressure however could not force a break through with Kelsey Parke equal to their efforts. Raphoe were dangerous on the break through Cliodhna Kelly and Alicia Domanska also however found the Ballyraine defence of Anna Muldoon, Aoife Kenna and Rosie Doherty difficult to break down. Clodagh Patton, Emer Cassidy and Maria McKinney were a constant thorn in the Raphoe side and they combined shortly before half time for McKinney to give Ballyraine a half time lead. Into the second and Grace McGlynn went close with a number of efforts however as the game wore on Raphoe began to push for an equaliser and their pressure paid off when Alicia McCullagh scored from close range. Raphoe then piled on the pressure for a winner however Ballyraine held out with a share of the spoils a fair result on the night. Excellent team performances from both sides.
Group 2
Cappry Rovers 2 v 2 St Catherine’s
On a great evening in Riverside pitch, it was a very even game and not much between the team. Cappry lead the game after 10 minutes with a great sole goal by Hannah mc Gowan. At the half hour mark St Catherine’s got a 25 yard free kick that went in top of the net by Emma Cunningham, a super strike. It was end to end stuff in the first half and Cappry took the lead again with a great goal inside the 6 yard box by Darcie Campbell. Just pens from half time St Catherine’s were awarded a penalty and Emma Cunningham again made no mistake with a powerful shot to the bottom corner. The 2nd half was very tight and not much chances created by either team. Good first game and share of the spoils would a fair result.
