Donegal’s newest solicitor has been formally introduced as the county’s newest practising solicitor.
Drumkeen woman Dympna Gallinagh was welcomed to her role at Letterkenny District Court.
Ms Gallinagh is working with McGinley Solicitors LLP in Letterkenny.
A daughter of Con and Anne Marie Gallinagh, she was officially introduced to the court by veteran solicitor Mr Kieran O’Gorman.
A former student at Finn Valley College in Stranorlar, Ms Gallinagh attended ATU Donegal, where she graduated with a BA (Honours) Law Degree.
She subsequently pursued a Masters, obtaining an LLM in Commercial Law from University of Ulster.
Ms Gallinagh has been working with McGinley Solicitors LLP for over five years now and trained under Margaret McGinley and Kyran McGinley in personal injury, medical negligence, conveyancing and probate.
In 2023, Ms Gallinagh finished the Professional Practice Course (PPC) with the Law Society of Ireland before being admitted to the Roll of Practising Solicitors in February.
“On behalf of the entire profession, I wish her the very best,” Mr O’Gorman said. “She is working with a very good practice and she will learn everything that she needs to – now that she is thrown in with the wolves in the District Court!”
Sergeant Jim Collins, on behalf of An Garda Síochána, welcomed Ms Gallinagh to the court and wished her a long and highly successful career.
“The sharp knives are only reserved for certain people among us! We look forward to working with her and we wish her all the best.”
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham congratulated Ms Gallinagh on her qualifications and welcomed her to the court.
“It is always a great pleasure to welcome a newly qualified solicitor to the court,” Judge Cunningham said. “The court will certainly extend every assistance in your career. Kieran and Margaret McGinley have extensive experience and will be a great assistance.”
Ms Gallinagh thanked those who had offered kind words, to her family and to the McGinley family and the team at McGinley Solicitors LLP “for all the training and kindness on the pathway to qualifying”.
She added: “I feel very privileged to have been educated, trained and now practising in my home county and I look forward to working with you all.”
